Presentation

The Alcatel-Lucent 5420 Voice Call Continuity (VCC) server provides cellular and WiFi-integration for voice call with telephony services (including hand-over). In addition, the 5420 VCC extends mobile numbers to PC users and can be used to extend IMS fixed line calls to mobile users.

The 5420 VCC allows the user to roam freely between a wireless network connected to the Internet using a broadband connection and the mobile network, using one phone with one phone number. It uses a dual-mode cellular-WiFi handset to make and receive fixed and mobile calls, and offers automatic handoff of calls between a connection to the fixed network through WiFi and the mobile network. The 5420 VCC provides these features for UMTS and GSM mobile carriers and operators. CDMA support is planned in 2008.

The 5420 VCC replaces the following legacy products: the Feature Server 2500 (FS2500) and the 5350 Voce Call Continuity Server.
