Supfina - Nearly 100 Years of Flexibility
Responding to client wishes and market changes is a Supfina tradition. For this reason, our company history does not look linear but reflects our flexibility in regards to market demands - a flexibility that our company proudly features to this day. Supfina was developed out of two companies. In 1903, in Germany's Black Forest, the brothers Albin and Bruno Grieshaber founded a crafts business, which evolved into a company by the name of Grieshaber Drehteile“, in Wolfach.
The Birth of the Supfina Brand Name
The Hentzen family had owned the Bergische Werkzeugfabrik in Remscheid sind 1910. This is where, over the years, production
developed from spiral and tapping drills over gear hobs to machine design and specifically, the Superfinishing technology. In 1951, the Remscheid company changed its name to Supfina – Wieck und Hentzen – derived from Superfinishing. The Supfina Brand Name was born!
At the same time, Grieshaber Drehteile in the Black Forest was producing turning machines and transmissions. During the 1960s, the demand for superfinished surfaces was increasing. The Grieshaber family recognized the market opportunities and, like Supfina, focussed on building Superfinishing machines.
Fusion into Supfina Grieshaber GmbH & Co. KG
The two companies have been collaborating since 1972; in 1995, they finally merged into today's Supfina Grieshaber GmbH & Co. KG. In addition to the two facilities in Germany, Supfina has maintained a presence on all important Superfinishing markets (in the US since 1984, with the Supfina Machine Company production and distribution facility and in China since 2001, with Supfina China).
With these global sites, Supfina is positioned as the world's largest supplier of Superfinishing machines and attachments.
Among other benefits, Supfina owes its open corporate culture to the ongoing communications among these sites in different regions.
