Business gateways extend service providers' networks inside a business office environment - to support the delivery of IP-based services, such as high-speed Internet (HSI), voice over IP (VoIP) and IP television (IPTV). Business gateways are a means for service providers to provide value added services (including VPN) to their business customers.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7230 BG portfolio includes several business gateways aimed at delivering communication services (including HSI, carrier-grade VoIP, video conferencing) to SOHO customers (Small Office / Home Office). They facilitate management (home network management, quality of service, security), as well as distribution of services inside the business environment.
