We are currently developing a CubeSat payload to participate in the ESA Design Booster program and are evaluating your Amplified Piezoelectric Actuators for integration into our mechanism. ?We are specifically considering the APA400MML for our application and would like to ask if you[…] My name is Andrea, writing on behalf of the AlmaSAT student team at the University of Bologna (Forlì Campus). We are currently developing a CubeSat payload to participate in the ESA Design Booster program and are evaluating your Amplified Piezoelectric Actuators for integration into our mechanism. ?We are specifically considering the APA400MML for our application and would like to ask if you believe this specific model is suitable for our operational requirements. ?Our system requires a momentum-transfer target of 1m/s (displacement amplitude times angular frequency) under continuous, non-impulsive operation for approximately 10 to 30 minutes per run. The actuator must operate in vacuum, comply with a strict non-magnetic constraint, and run safely below its own resonance frequency—ideally at less than half of its fundamental resonance. ?Could you confirm whether the APA400MML can meet these requirements, and whether you have empirical self-heating data in vacuum for continuous operation at this frequency and drive voltage, rather than only the nominal quasi-static (1 Hz) datasheet values? ?If the APA400MML does not fully meet these operational constraints, could you recommend another off-the-shelf APA model that would be more appropriate, or let us know if you offer engineering services to develop a custom or modified unit tailored to our mission profile? ?Additionally, given the target space application, we would like to inquire about space qualification for the recommended solution.
