The DWS spectrometer from Wolfram Industrie GmbH which has been designed for welding plasma spectroscopy consists of two parts:
1. Spectrometer (standard version)
Dimensions: 19 inches & Weight: 12 kg
Spectral range: 200 nm to 1,100 nm
Spectral resolution: 0.25 nm FWHM
Frequency: 1 KHz
Interface output: Profinet (EtherCat, Profibus on request)
Input: fiber optic sensor
Note: The mobile version uses a USB interface with a laptop computer
2. Fiber optic head
Fiber optic cable: 25 m length on standard
Working distance: 2 inches to 2 meters from the arc
Fiber optic head size: identical to that of the welding filler wire feeder
Possibility of using a mirror
DWS equipment enables:
a) Real-time chemical analysis of the welding arc
b) Simultaneous, high-resolution measurement/monitoring of:
* Shielding gas composition
* Detection of inclusions in the base material
* Filler wire composition and cleanliness
* Detection of surface contamination
* Detection of inclusions and/or tungsten degradation
* Detection of porosity and microporosity
This equipment is particularly suitable for TIG (orbital welding) and MIG/MAG technologies for the nuclear, defense, and metal additive manufacturing industries.
