Advantages:

Straightforward central control of the fixture.
Fixtures can be cycled single-stage and multiple-stage (e.g. for terminal fitting).
Fixtures will only be moved in positions where it is necessary (low wear).
Height coordinates of pick-up and joining position need not be the same. Inserting devices feature intermediate positions; thus, elaborate looping of the pick-up position is not required.
The repeat precision of inserting devices is significantly higher since there is no horizontal stroke (movement toward the outside).

Costs:

Central control of the pick-up movement is considerably less expensive compared to the use of electrical axes or linear motors, respectively.
The programming expenditure will be significantly reduced.
Air consumption decreases significantly.
