Safety lock barrier
When a risk is identified in an ATEX zone, specific and rigorous measures must be implemented to prevent explosions and ensure operator safety. These preventive measures cover all technical and organisational aspects of the zone: mobile tools, personal protective equipment, work clothing and fixed installations on site.
However, classifying an area as an ATEX zone should in no way hinder the implementation of appropriate protection solutions for operators working there. Therefore, to ensure the safe transfer of loads between different levels or to a mezzanine, the installation of a safety lock gate remains essential. The question then is how to proceed in full compliance.
Firstly, it is necessary to ensure that the equipment remains permanently connected to the designated earth point. In order to meet regulatory requirements and eliminate any risk of electrostatic ignition, it is essential that all conductive metal parts are earthed. The barrier must therefore incorporate electrical continuity.
AC2M offers pallet airlocks equipped with welded studs that allow grounding braids to pass through, ensuring grounding and electrical continuity. This design guarantees the equipotentiality of all installations.
Furthermore, in order to limit any danger, it is strongly recommended to choose a certified safety gate. Uncontrolled or uncertified equipment cannot be assessed for reliability, which can be particularly critical in explosive atmospheres.
AC2M safety gates, types SG1, SG3, SG4 and SG5, are subject to rigorous testing and are certified by recognised independent bodies: APAVE and TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH, guaranteeing their compliance with the most stringent safety requirements.
When working on tanks or containers in ATEX zones, safety relies in particular on keeping equipment permanently earthed. It is essential to ensure that the installation remains permanently connected to the dedicated earth point. As such, the folding walkway installed must provide effective electrical continuity.
AC2M drop-down walkways designed for ATEX environments are equipped with welded studs that allow grounding braids to pass through. This device ensures grounding, electrical continuity and equipotentiality of installations, which are essential for preventing explosion risks.
Finally, effective protection against ATEX risks cannot be achieved without appropriate training for all personnel. Informing, understanding and controlling risks are the foundations of a sustainable and effective prevention approach.

Safety lock barrierAfter obtaining APAVE certification and a second TÜV SÜD certification for the quality and safety of its products, AC2M has reached another important milestone: AC2M is now a registered trademark!
This official recognition confirms AC2M's reliability, durability and expertise in the field of safety at height (safety gate, folding walkway / folding stairway, mobile safety ladder). The company has thus established itself as a trusted player in the field of safety for work on tanks, containers and wagons and the transfer of loads between different levels.
