As one of the world's best-regarded providers of solutions in mechanical separation technology, with an export share of 85%, Flottweg finds good foreign language skills essential. The advantage for trainees: They get two degrees at once.   After completing their apprenticeship as an industrial salesperson, trainees also take exams for a degree as a foreign language correspondence clerk.  The apprenticeship is a 2.5-year program, with two days of lectures in theoretical principles per week offered at Berufsschule 2 in Landshut. In addition to business theory, advanced English skills are also taught.    During the apprenticeship, the trainees will experience every department of the company relevant to their apprenticeship. For example, in the Sales department they will learn how quotations are prepared, in Marketing they will get insight into conference planning and organization, and in purchasing they will learn the ins and outs of negotiation. Some of the other departments that will be included are: - Human Resources - Logistics - Business Order Processing and Risk Management - Finance and Accounting.   One of the highlights of the apprenticeship is surely the four weeks of study abroad planned in an English-speaking country. The language skills learned in the classroom will be honed further here.   After the apprenticeship, the new foreign language industrial sales clerks will have a variety of opportunities to start their careers at Flottweg. Because Flottweg prefers to hire its own apprentices.

The twelve most pioneering ideas and projects were nominated for the Innovation Award of the Wirtschaftszeitung [eastern Bavarian economic newspaper] in 2016. 200 representatives from economy and science chose the winner.   The Flottweg OSE decanter lined up against other creative ideas, such as a heatable asparagus field or a reinvention of the Otto engine. It was only possible after a second round of decision-making to name the CO2-free dispensing system from Krones AG as the winner.    The nomination for the Innovation Award illustrates the pioneering orientation of Flottweg.  With the OSE decanter, the company is creating an innovative and environmentally-friendly way of thickening sewage sludge based on starch polymers. The starch-based polymeric flocculant (pFM) is an environmentally-friendly alternative to the conventional synthetic pFM.    It is necessary to use flocculants in conventional systems to thicken sludge in order to achieve a normal efficiency. Compared to synthetic polymers, flocculants based on pea or potato starch biodegrade in nature faster and more easily.  The thickened surplus sludge is often applied to agricultural land as a fertilizer. That is why a rapid reduction of the sludge and the components are an important factor for environmental protection. However, the conversion to the environmentally-friendly flocculant often leads to high throughflow losses on conventional systems.   Only the Flottweg OSE decanter makes using starch polymers in sewage sludge thickening, economical, sustainable and efficient. The decanter centrifuge ensures an optimal sludge thickening and – also by using the starch-based pFM – achieves a separation degree of > 95 %. Very low polymer quantities are enough to achieve a high throughflow with a simultaneously minimal energy expenditure.

The new office building was officially opened for business on April 12, 2017. Among other things, it houses the Flottweg Academy, Research and Development, the Design department, and the human resources department. Both the high-quality office furniture as well as the architecture of the building itself reflect our company's values both inside and out.   We find the consistency of appearance to be an important aspect in reinforcing trust and brand recognition in both our customers and our partners. This extends from the use of uniform fonts to recurring musical themes in our ad spots and even to color coordination in our trade show presence. And the same kind of thought went into the external design of our building. The integration of the new building into an existing location must be done with a sense of harmony. So it was important for the new Flottweg Building 1.3 to have a design similar to that of Building 1.2, opened in 2015.    Building 1.3, at 16 meters in height, is the second-tallest building on the campus, and offers 1,800m² of space for over 60 offices. In addition to the individual offices, there are also six conference rooms and an IT training room with eight workstations. Every floor has its own coffee kitchen or lounge. Each and every office has its own ventilation installed, to ensure optimum air intake. And not only the offices, but even the halls are air conditioned. The building meets the strictest of standards in thermal insulation, too. It was improved by another 20%.    With Building 1.3, Flottweg has succeeded in creating a pleasant working environment that represents the high expectations of the company in the interior, as well.
