RIM (Reaction In Mould) and elastomer parts are characterized by the absence of expansion during polymerization. The cells are closed and part manufacturing is more like conventional plastics engineering processes.

High density (> 1) RIM moulded parts are generally used for cowlings, ailerons, etc.

Typical elastomer parts are carpets, protection stops, friction parts and automobile bumpers. Elastomers have good mechanical strength and non-skid properties.
