Surface energy check before printing, varnishing

The way an ink or varnish behaves on a substrate directly affects adhesion and long-term durability.

When the liquid spreads, adhesion is likely to be good; when it beads up, the risk of defects increases (peeling, pull-off, fragile markings, poor durability).

This is especially critical for printing (pad printing, screen printing), as well as varnishing.

STTS highlights its diagnostic and quality-control know-how by measuring surface energy (surface tension) and interpreting the results to validate a material or a surface preparation.

Depending on the need, the evaluation is carried out using test inks (measurement reagents) or a goniometer (contact angle measurement), in order to characterize the initial condition, compare before/after treatment and define a target level consistent with the application and industrial constraints.
