Electrical slip rings are used everywhere where electrical currents are transmitted from a stationary machine part to a rotating shaft. The transfer of energy between the rotor and stator occurs by way of a slide contact, which is pressed against the rotating slip ring by a precision spring with constant pressure. It is important to select the optimal pair of materials for the contacts, in order to ensure reliable functioning and a long product life. In doing this, tribologic and electrical requirements are considered depending on the application.
