When a large mechanical part is to be measured accurately, comparative measurements are made: A reference bench is used to set a comparative instrument which will then be used to measure the part.

The Horizon Setting is ideal as a reference bench for the setting of comparative instruments with fixed dimensions, but also with variable dimensions.
