Grinding machines, Polishing machines
“ Portable lapping machines delivering maximum surface finish and form accuracy for valves and sealing surfaces – flexible, durable, and cost-effective, even for mobile repair applications. ”
The EFCO VALVA series comprises portable machines specifically designed for lapping and grinding flat sealing surfaces. They are used for machining sealing surfaces in valves, valve discs, flanges, and other components.
The VALVA machines form a complete repair system and are universally applicable in critical industries such as conventional and nuclear power plants, refineries, the chemical industry, shipbuilding, and valve manufacturing.
As they are suitable for both grinding and lapping, they enable the achievement of the highest surface finishes and maximum form accuracy.
Models suitable for lappingVALVA-1 (working range DN 8–150)
VALVA-15 (working range DN 80–300)
VALVA-2 (working range DN 200–700)
VALVA-3 (working range DN 500–1600)
EFCO VALVA machines offer several advantages focused on cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Cost efficiency: Excellent price/performance ratio and high return on investment.
Operation and mobility: Easy to operate and handle.
Low weight: Enables one-man operation; smaller machines (e.g. VALVA-1) allow freehand operation.
Durability: Long service life ensured by high-quality materials, powerful drives, and low-wear tools.
Result quality (lapping): The machines provide optimal lapping results.
In combination with EFCOBOR lapping compounds, very high surface finishes, maximum form accuracy, and tight dimensional tolerances can be achieved, regardless of material hardness.
Special advantage of VALVA-1: The VALVA-1 model features an integrated reversing mode to produce absolutely groove-free surfaces during lapping.
Machining mechanism and precision:
The drive features a spring-loaded mounting of the driving pin, allowing better control of the contact pressure of the grinding tools on the sealing surface.
The machines deliver exceptionally high torque, even in compact hand-held models.
The grinding tools used include plain lapping discs, plain grinding discs with roller guidance, and planetary discs for larger models (VALVA-15, -2, -3).
Universal mounting systems ensure secure installation, stable fixing, and fast alignment.
Drive types and performance:
Depending on requirements, the drives are available as electric drives (230/120 V, 50/60 Hz) or pneumatic drives (6–7 bar).
Associated consumables (EFCOBOR lapping compounds):
EFCOBOR lapping compounds are oil-soluble lapping pastes based on boron carbide.
Boron carbide is a high-performance abrasive whose hardness and chemical resistance are comparable to diamond (Mohs scale 9.5+); it is often referred to as “black diamond.”
These compounds provide high material removal rates and excellent surface quality, even on carbide and ceramic materials. They are available in various grit sizes from P80 to P1500.
