Polyurethanes used for the formulation of adhesives are constructed from polyol and isocyanate building blocks. The choice of polyol has a direct effect on the performance and application characteristics of the formulated adhesive.
Acclaim® polyether polyols from Covestro are the result of extensive research and development efforts built on our expertise in polyol technology.
They are manufactured from propylene oxide using our proprietary IMPACT® technology. They have very low monool (polymer chain with only one hydroxy group) contents.
Acclaim® polyols can be reacted with Desmodur® hardeners for the formulation of solventborne elastic two-component (2K) adhesives and sealants with high strength and resistance. Applications include furniture, automotive and construction industries.
For the construction industry in particular, Acclaim® polyether polyols give formulators access to the widest range of properties for the development of high-durability and high-performance adhesives.
The properties of polyurethanes formulated with Acclaim® polyether polyols may be maximized by adjusting the crosslinking level or changing the polyisocyanate content.
Acclaim® polyols are also used to prepare coatings, cast elastomers, epoxy flexibilizers, defoamers, lubricants, crude oil de-emulsifiers and plasticizers.
