The combiSENSOR series sets new standards in non-contact thickness measurement. These precise sensors combine the advantages of eddy current and capacitive sensor technology in a single housing. This innovative technology enables the micrometer-precise measurement of material thicknesses, e.g. of battery coatings and plastic films. Target thicknesses as low as 5 µm can be detected. In addition, their robust design ensures that the sensors work reliably even in harsh industrial environments with high temperatures.

The combiSENSOR series is the optimal solution for inline thickness measurements of electrode coatings, coated metals and films requiring highest precision and reliability.

Robust design for harsh environments

The combiSENSOR series not only impresses with its technical performance, but also with its robust design.
Therefore, the sensors can also be used in harsh industrial environments with high temperatures of up to 180° C.
Whether electrode coating, plastic films or coated metals - the combiSENSOR series is versatile and ensures consistently high quality in strip processes.

Measuring principle

The combiSENSOR measures the coating thickness with a capacitive sensor to measure the distance from the coating and an eddy current sensor to measure the distance from the metal roller. The difference between the two signals provides the total thickness of the coated film, while mechanical influences are automatically compensated for.
