Degassing in the vacuum
Materials are degassed to eliminate volatile substances. It is insignificant whether solid or liquid substances are involved. Vacuum degassing can for example remove any disagreeable taste or smell which bioplastics/biopolymers may have due to their specific composition; vacuum degassing makes them tasteless. Diener electronic vacuum systems can also be used to remove contaminants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from materials. Another typical application is removing air enclosed in sealing compounds.
A suitable process control is essential for achieving permanently good results in the degassing processes. In most cases, running defined pressure ramps is the key to success here. The most common mistake in degassing processes is pumping off to maximum vacuum only and maintaining this state. This creates a balance, and degassing of the substances does not happen at all or only at a very slow rate.
Another benefit of degassing components is the removal of volatile substances which may result in loss of adhesion when gluing, painting or coating. These substances can be neutralised in a vacuum chamber in a process which is customised to your component. For even better adhesion, opt for subsequent plasma treatment. Thanks to our innovative system, it can be run in the same unit. That’s killing two birds with one stone!

Altitude testing
Nowadays, suitability for air transport is mandatory for most components such as electric motors, sensitive sensors or common items such as rechargeable and regular batteries. Primarily lithium batteries must undergo a height simulation pursuant to UN 38.3: The batteries are exposed to a pressure of 116 mbar for more than six hours. While there is pressure equalization in the cargo holds of aircraft, it cannot completely compensate for the pressure fluctuations. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to have tests and simulations at a pressure of under 800 mbar.
Our vacuum systems can also simulate significantly lower pressures which occur for example during a pressure loss. Accordingly, components must sometimes be tested in an ultra-high vacuum at a pressure of 10-6 mbar or less. This is usually the case for components used in space. We are able to design systems for these applications, develop automated processes for a precise simulation, build the system, and commission it on your premises.

Vacuum storage systems
Sensitive components such as wafers or certain medical parts must under no circumstances be contaminated with foreign substances or air humidity. The safest way of storing highly sensitive components is under vacuum. In the vacuum, your components are protected from all external influences. If required, the chamber can be ventilated with gases such as nitrogen. Storage systems usually consist of several chambers. The chambers can be operated efficiently with one vacuum pump. If required, documentation of the storage conditions can be integrated in the control. We can provide vacuum storage systems in all application areas.

Controlling the systems and processes
The Diener electronic vacuum systems are controlled by means of the operating program specifically developed by us. It not only allows you to monitor the process but also to program and save a wide variety of process sequences. No matter how complex the requirements for your application: We develop, optimise and test your process to ensure perfect results.

High and ultra-high vacuum
With our patented aluminium vacuum chambers, we can implement practically any type of vacuum system and tailor it to your individual requirements. Our systems meet your process requirements, from the pressure range of low vacuum over medium vacuum up to ultra-high vacuum. Depending on your needs, we use different pumps such as a rotary vane pump, roots pump, membrane pump or turbo pump, either on their own or in various combinations.
